Chavez Crossing Campground

Located in Tucson Mountain Park in the heart of the beautiful Sonoran Desert, Gilbert Ray Campground offers facilities for tent camping. Guests have convenient access to the park’s extensive trail system, unique wildlife viewing opportunities, and interpretive programs presented by Pima County environmental educators. The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Old Tucson Studios, and Saguaro National Park are less than five miles from the campground.

Facilities include: • Water stations • Restrooms • Dumpsters • Sanitary dump

  • Wood fires are prohibited. (portable propane fire rings are acceptable).
  • Tents only for this group camping area. (From what I understand, this is a smaller group area - not big enough to accommodate pop-ups or travel trailers.)
  • Note: Pop-ups are allowed for an extra $20 but you will be in a different area.
  • Cash or Checks only, No credit card machines set up at this facility.
  • Enjoy, Admire and Respect the Sonoran Desert. (Need to make sure that we clean up after ourselves and do not disturb the Sonoran Desert).
  • For those who cannot make it down to the campground on Friday night, but still would like to join us at the Desert Museum on Saturday. The Y-Guides group is scheduled to meet at the Desert Museum at 9:30am on Saturday morning, Feb. 21, 2014.
